Brecciated Jasper
Brecciated Jasper is found in various regions around the world including Egypt, Brazil, Australia, India, Russia, Madagascar and the United States. It forms when hematite, a compound of iron, infuses with quartz and numerous sedimentary particles at high temperatures in cracks and veins within volcanic rock. As the infused particles cool and harden, they take on a dark gray form with deep red tones caused by the inclusion of iron during the infusion process. The resulting stone is known as Brecciated Jasper.
