Sodalite

Sodalite is found in South Africa, Russia, Greenland, Brazil, Canada and very limited regions within the United States. It is created when a group of minerals with similar chemical makeups that contain a high sodium content are combined within veins in molten rock. As the combined minerals cool, they harden to form the crystalline structure known as Sodalite. The royal blue color you see is due to a natural impurity within the stone. The white streaks throughout are a result of calcium deposits embedded in the stone during formation. These deposits create a lightning-like appearance that is truly remarkable.
